Halloween, slumber parties, "country" singers, and attempting to write a novel in a month

November 9, 2010
Song of the Day: Deathbed by Relient K
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xhf-BO_2wGw
Lyric of the Day: "I'm wonder struck, blushing all the way home. I'll spend forever, wondering if you knew, I was enchanted to meet you." -Taylor Swift
Book of the Day: Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
Outfit of the Day: green sweatshirt that says "Ireland" on it, jeans, sparkly sneakers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So if you look at the title up there, you'll get a pretty good idea of the last few weeks.
Obviously, I have a lot to say today. =P
1)Halloween
Besides Christmas, Halloween is my favorite holiday in the entire world. I just love it. Costumes, candy, parties, haunted houses, and scaring yourself silly. What could be better?
For the second year in the row, I had a Halloween party Needless to say, it was fantastic. My friends are especially talented at coming up with the best costumes...EVER. We had Ke$ha, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Minnie Mouse, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, Superman, a hula dancer, a vampire, a gypsy, a nerd, a pig, the grim reaper...not to mention Ron Weasley and Quirrel & Voldemort. And Columbia from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. And so many more.
Basically, anything epic.
I was a princess, as you can see. :)
On Halloween, my sixth grade brother stayed home.
I went trick or treating. ;D
Honestly, I find it even more fun now than I did when I was little. There's nothing better than running around the street at night dressed up like a lunatic and taking candy from strangers.
After that, we stopped by my friend's house and rented some epic movies. If you're looking for a blatantly terrible movie that still manages to be incredibly entertaining, NIGHT OF THE CREEPS is for you! It's amazing. We couldn't stop laughing.
All in all, I had a great Halloween. I'm sad it's over.
2) Slumber parties
Part of the reason I have neglected is the blog is because of the SLUMBER PARTY OVERLOAD I've been experiencing. Everyone seems to be having sleepovers, and I just keep going to them. It's becoming an addiction. I've been living off of pizza and cake, and barely sleeping. 0_0
The best sleepover I went to this weekend involved cake fights and playing an awesome game called Apples to Apples. We also ate a lot of popcorn. It was an interesting day. :)
3) A "country" singer
I've never really been a huge Taylor Swift fan..
I liked a few of her songs, but I thought she was whiny and not that great of a songwriter. Just out of curiosity, I bought her new album, Speak Now. I was not expecting much.
And now I can't stop listening to it.
I'm obsessed with this album. Every single song has something that I love, and every single song is different. Her voice has really improved as well.
Speak Now:
1) Mine~ The only thing that bothers me about this song, is that the chorus has almost the exact same tune as "Fearless." But other than that, I love it.
2) Sparks Fly~ This one really surprised me. It's the same sort of tune that she usually writes, but the words are much more poetic. Definitely one of the songs I listen to over and over.
3) Back to December~ One of my least favorites. It's a nice idea, but they're so much hype about it in the media. I can't listen to it without thinking of Taylor Lautner...not that Taylor Lautner is a bad thing to think about..but it kinda ruins the song.
4) Speak Now~ I love this song so much. It's something that's never really been written about, and it just makes me think of that scene in 13 Going On 30.
5) Dear John~ I like this, but I don't think it's as great as everyone is making it out to be. It's very pretty, the lyrics are good, but there's much better songs on here. Plus, there's the whole John Mayer issue.
6) Mean~ One of my favorites. The tune is so freaking catchy, I'm humming it everywhere I go. I know that everyone has wanted to say these words to someone in their life.
7) The Story of Us~ A very generic tune, the lyrics aren't great...but for some reason, I really love this song. It's just so relate-able and catchy. It reminds a bit too  much of Demi Lovato though.
8)) Never Grow Up~ This is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a while. Simple tune, and gorgeous lyrics.
9) Enchanted~ I think this one has to be my absolute favorite. Or at least, my second favorite. The tune is hypnotizing. It makes me picture this beautiful fairy tale world. And the lyrics are lovely.
10) Better Than Revenge~ This was one of the first songs I heard off of the album, and I absolutely love it. The only problem is it kind of reminds me of 'The Way We Talk" by The Maine or "Misery Business" by Paramore. However, even though this is a bit of a filler song, there's a cleverness that we haven't seen from Taylor Swift in a while. Lines like "She's actress, but she's better known for the things she does on the mattress," will have you cracking up.
11) Innocent~ Okay, this is the only song on the album that I absolutely do not like at all. It's apparently to Kanye West, which is just stupid. Kanye was drunk, he screwed up, he's an asshole, we get it. And this song is just annoying to me.
12) Haunted~ Very interesting tune, nice lyrics. A great example of how Taylor Swift is maturing in songwriting.
13) Last Kiss~ This is the best song on the album, hands down. It's just beautiful. There's so much emotion in it, and the lyrics are amazing.
14) Long Live~ Not a great song, but it's a nice ending to the album.
Plus, I really respect Taylor Swift. The best thing about her, is that doesn't even have to try to be a good role model. She's not roped under a Disney contract. And yet, she's the classiest celebrity out there right now. She's absolutely gorgeous without being a whore. She's charming without being fake. She's confident without being conceited.
She also didn't get famous because she had money (Miley Cyrus) or because she shocked people (Ke$ha). She worked for what she has.
The only thing that bugs me about her is how her music is classified as country. It is not country at all. Her first album was country. But now it's definitely pop, and I can't really understand why it's still being classified as country....
Anyway, Speak Now is an unbelievable album. And it gives me some hope for this generation's music. Finally an artist who sings about more than getting drunk and banging hoes in the club.
4) Nanowrimo
Have you ever thought of writing a novel?
How 'bout writing a 50,000 word novel in a month?
...Well I am.
It's absolutely terrifying and exhilarating and stressful and just a stupid thing to do in general. By now, I only have around 10,000 words and November 30 is fast approaching. I'm freaking out. In fact, I should probably be working on that story right now...
You might wonder why I'm doing such a crazy thing. It's all apart of this little contest called NANOWRIMO, or National Novel Writing Month. It's probably too late for you to start now (unless you're a miracle worker and can crank out 50,000 words in three weeks), but you should check it out and sign up for next year.
Just so us crazies aren't alone. ;D
Well, I'm going to go work on that novel right now. I hope to be on again soon.
Later, alligators.
Triple Rainbow Awesome Week
October 12, 2010
Song of the Day: I Love (More Than Alive), by ALL CAPS.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vejLfoJRF5I&feature=related
Lyric of the Day: "It doesn't matter how it stays here. If she keeps runnin', runnin', and runnin', runnin', in steady pace for now, it doesn't matter how it stays here. If she keeps runnin', runnin', and runnin', she find her way out," ~Cady Groves
Book of the Day: Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
Outfit of the Day: A black "ALL CAPS" t-shirt, purple skinny jeans, silver flats.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So if there's one word I'd use to describe the past week or so, it would have to be FABULOUS.

Within this post you're going to get a TV show review, a book review, a musical review, AND a concert review, mainly because these were the four monumental events contributing to my amazing week. So let's do this, shall we?

1) Glee.

So picture this. It's a Tuesday afternoon. I'm chilling in my room, jamming to The Beatles, hurrying to finish up some homework so I can catch the newest Glee episode. And what do I find out? That I have a confirmation meeting.

While. Glee. is. on.

I obviously freak out. But thankfully, God gave us DVR, so I recorded it, anxiously awaiting the time when I'd be able to watch it.

The confirmation meeting was kind of painful...not gonna lie. I really don't mind going to church, but three straight hours of it (especially when there's a Glee episode to watch) is not fun. I don't think I can explain how fast I ran into my house to watch this show. I almost accidentally pummeled my brother to the ground, trying to turn it on.

Anyhoo, I jump into pajamas and start watching this episode. I was hoping the show would redeem itself from the Britney episode (which I really didn't like).

And what did I get?

Religion. The entire thing was based on religion. I'm not saying that's a terrible thing...but right after you come back from three hours of religion, the last thing you want is more. I was a little disappointed.

That is, until I heard the songs.

This was one of the greatest episodes of Glee EVER, when it comes to the music. I was so sick of mindless pop songs and rapping. I wanted Glee to deliver the usual show stopping numbers...and jeez louise, did they deliver! Although Rachel is annoying, and her solo was totally random in the story, her rendition of "Papa Can You Hear Me" was absolutely brilliant.  Mercede's  "Bridge Over Troubled Water" was stunning. And lastly, the greatest song in the entire episode, and definitely the best performance this season so far, was Kurt's heartbreaking cover of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand." I almost cried through the entire thing.

So I must say...the first thing that made my week, was the episode of Glee!

2) My Immortal

You might be wondering what My Immortal is.

Well, it's basically the worst freaking Harry Potter fanfiction in the history of the world.

And oddly enough, the most entertaining.

If you've ever considered that Snape's name could be "Snoop" or that Dumbledore might walk in on people having sex in the Forbidden Forest, and shout "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING MOTHERFUCKERS" because he had a headache...you'll certainly want to read this. It had me literally rolling on the floor laughing.

3) A Very Potter Sequel

So there's a lot of things I could have done with my day off. I could have gone outside, for example. Or gone to the mall. Or even the movies.

But nahh. Instead, I stayed up all night to watch A Very Potter Sequel, upon the request of my obsessive friends.

IT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME.

Lauren Lopez is simply a genius. Draco is my favorite character...because he is adorable and horrible all at the same time. All the other characters were just as amazing. This is a must-see, and I was cracking up the entire time. I could barely even breathe.

Click here to watch it!
Click here if you haven't seen A Very Potter Musical yet!

4) The Triple Rainbow Awesome Tour!

And now for the greatest highlight of the week! And possibly my entire life! THE TRIPLE RAINBOW AWESOME TOUR.

In case you're not familiar with what this is, it's a tour featuring tons of amazing musicians who got famous through YouTube.

It includes:
ALL CAPS
Skyway Flyer [Jason Munday]
Alex Carpenter
ANNND my favorite...
Mike Lombardo

I saw them in Hamden, Connecticut at The Space and it was the most incredible experience ever. I got to meet all of them, talk to them, find out more about their music, and take pictures with them. They all autographed my official Triple Rainbow Awesome Tour poster. I also got an epic ALL CAPS t-shirt, which you can view to the right!

I really suggest going to this! They have a lot more stops on their tour, so CHECK IT OUT!

Anyway, that's all the awesome we have for today. Hopefully I'll get around to posting some more stuff soon!

The Top Twelve Things They Don't Tell You About High School. (Or At Least, My High School).

The Top Twelve Things They Don't Tell You About High School

Now I'm not saying I'm the most reliable source on this...I've only been in high school for two weeks, after all. But here are some things that I have learned about high school.

That people just forgot to tell me.

1) Students do not care that you need to get to class. If their hormones tell them to make out, they will do it. There is no saying "excuse me." There is no kindly shoving your way through. You're gonna have to wait to get your science notebook, until they finish.

2) Sometimes you will be expected to teach yourself. Since your teacher prefers doing random things on their computer. This is a postitive thing because you'll do nothing in class. It's a negative thing because you'll probably have ten pages of homework.

3) Bathrooms really are for emergencies only. They make sure you know that by giving you two stalls, no toilet paper, no paper towels, sinks that shoot from six different directions, and a mirror that is covered in a film like substance.

4) Don't sit where seniors sit. Ever. Ever. Ever.

5) It's a good idea to become someone's freshman. This means that you have a junior or senior adopt you and make sure everyone knows you're assosiated with them.

For example:
Senior: Hi, I'm going to beat you  up.
Freshman: Shit.
The Freshman's Junior: Hey dude, its cool. That's my freshman.
Senior: Oh, okay, wanna sit with us at lunch?

6) You should bring your lunch. That 20 minute line for nachos? Yeah. Not worth it. You will have people basically clawing out your eyes to get to those tortilla chips. You are much better off bringing a nice little sandwich.

7) If your meal smells like shit, looks like shit, and most likely tastes like shit, you shouldn't eat it. Just ask one of your smart friends who brought a lunch to loan you some crappy snack they don't want. Like pretzals.
Another note: Avoid food that moves.

8) Bring your ipod, your phone, or a book on the bus. That way, you are occupied. Or at least...you look occupied.
Note: If you actually like to talk to people on your bus, ignore this.

9) Freshmen stick together. Suddenly, people that you always hated will want to be friends with you. People that used to call you ugly in middle school, will suddenly be screaming your name in the hallways and trying to hug you. Why? Because freshmen stick together. If you two are the only freshmen in study hall...whaddya know! They're gonna sit next to you! And then friendship develops. I'm not so sure if this is good or bad yet.

10) Unless you're a cheerleader or you do a sport, you're not considered a human being. BUT THAT'S PERFECTLY OKAY. Humans are boring.

11) If you don't do a sport, and you want to be a human, become a music geek. If soccer's not your thing, do the school musical. Or at least do band or chorus. That way, you'll be a human. A slightly physcotic one, but hey. We try.

12) And most importantly...GETTING UP EARLY SUCKS. And it will always suck. Until the day you die, you will wish you took advantage of sleeping to the sweet, merciful hour of 7:30 AM.
